Screenshot calculator
Enter the pages or stories you screenshot, the viewports and browsers, and how often CI runs. The calculator counts the screenshots a month and prices them on each vendor's published plans, with the source and the date every price was checked.
4,800screenshots a month (40 × 2 × 1 × 60)
| Vendor | Plan | Per month | How |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snapvisor | Free | $0 | Free includes 7,000 screenshots a month. Source |
| Percy | Free | $0 | Free includes 5,000 screenshots a month. Source |
| Chromatic | Free | $0 | Free includes 5,000 snapshots a month, in Chrome only. Source |
| Applitools | Starter | $667, billed annually | Starter covers 1,000 page checkpoints or 100,000 component checkpoints a month. Applitools counts checkpoints, not screenshots, and publishes no overage price, so this is its entry price rather than an estimate for this volume. Source |
How to estimate your screenshots
- Count what you screenshot. Enter the pages or Storybook stories one test run captures.
- Add viewports and browsers. Each viewport width and each browser multiplies the screenshots of every page.
- Add how often CI uploads. Enter the builds a month that upload screenshots, usually one per pull-request push plus the main branch.
- Compare the monthly cost. Read the screenshots a month and the cheapest published plan for that volume on each vendor.
Prices this calculator uses
Every price below was read on the vendor's own pricing page on 2026-10-23. Snapvisor's plans are on the pricing page, and the comparison pages set the same vendors side by side feature by feature.
How each vendor counts, checked 2026-10-23: Percy's plans and billing page counts a screenshot per page, browser and responsive width; Chromatic's billing docs count a snapshot per test, build, browser and mode, and its modes docs list viewports among the modes.

Keep the screenshot count down
The count grows with every viewport and browser, so capture a second width or browser only for the pages where layouts really differ. On Snapvisor, spend management caps usage-based costs for a period, and the pricing docs explain how screenshots are counted. Start free with the free plan's monthly screenshots.
Screenshot calculator FAQ
Multiply the pages or stories one run captures by the viewport widths, by the browsers, and by the builds a month that upload screenshots. 40 pages at 2 widths in 1 browser, on 60 builds, is 4,800 screenshots a month.
This calculator counts one screenshot per page, viewport and browser on every build, for every vendor. That is Percy's unit: its billing docs define a screenshot as a rendering of a page in one browser and responsive width combination. Chromatic's billing docs count a snapshot per test, build, browser and mode, and its modes docs list viewports among the modes. Applitools counts checkpoints instead, so its row shows its entry price rather than a total for your volume.
From each vendor's public pricing page, read on the date shown next to the table. Percy's Desktop plan is shown at its billed-annually price, as Percy lists it first. A price a vendor does not publish, such as Chromatic's Pro overage, is never estimated.
Pro includes a monthly allowance of screenshots, and screenshots beyond it are billed by usage. The pricing page has the current terms.
